Wealthy Affiliate University Review - Week 5

I love this week of the Wealthy Affiliate University. There is a lot more detail on free internet marketing techniques and some really good info on how to come up with ideas for campaigns.

The learning outcomes for this week include:

- Creating free marketing campaigns (how to structure them)
- Creating paid marketing campaigns
- Organizing your campaigns using WA tools
- Creating long term income
- Should you become a merchant?

And here are the tasks:

- If using "Free" techniques, create a campaign outline and write one article per day (5 articles)
- If using "Paid" techniques, create one Adwords/Yahoo campaign, and one adgroup per day (5 adgroups)
- Set some tasks and goals for yourself in your My WA section

I have also contacted Kyle and Carson (the owners of Wealthy Affiliate) to see if they will take a look at my Adwords campaign to see how I can improve on it. This comes as part of the membership with the WA program so they said they would be happy to do it. I have always focused on natural search techniques so the world of Adwords is all new to me.

I am just waiting on the results from Carson so I will post the outcome in this blog.

Wealthy Affiliate University Review - Week 4

The main topic for Week 4 of the Wealthy Affiliate University program is Web Development.

The learning outcomes for this week include:

  • How a website will benefit you as an Internet marketer
  • Setting-up your FREE WA Hosting & choosing domains
  • Using Site Rubix
  • How to build a website
  • Different types of webpages
  • How to create landing pages that convert
  • Using the feeder sites here at WA

The tasks include:

  • Sign-up for a free WA Hosting Account
  • If you are interested in having your own website, look for a domain name at 1and1.com
  • Create your domain space within your WA Hosting account
  • Point your domain to your WA Hosting
  • Download a Website Template to your computer and open with an HTML editor
  • Edit the Website Template and create three reviews / comparisons for 3 different products
  • Make sure your landing page contains all important landing page components based on checklist
  • Save and upload your landing page to you WA Hosting account

The emphasis was on developing and optimizing landing pages and tutorials are provided for the pointing a domain to WA hosting and how to create a domain space in WA.

I am really enjoying WA. I have learned a hell of a lot about landing pages, article marketing and Adwords...these are all things I didn't have much to do with since we really just concentrated on developing niche websites solely for natural search. This is all we knew. I feel like a whole new world of internet marketing has opened up for me.

Wealthy Affiliate University Review - Week 3

Week 3 of the Wealthy Affiliate University was all about research. We all know how important keywords are in Internet marketing and the information provided here emphasised that. The learning outcomes for this week included:

- Understanding the importance of market & keyword research

- Using keyword tools - How to leverage your competition

- Understanding market research

- Hyper-Targeting consumers (understanding the WHY)

- Relevancy = Success (broad marketing vs. targeted marketing)

The Wealthy Affiliate membership site has a couple of keyword tools which I have been using regularly particularly for creating Adwords campaigns. These tools are great for researching keywords.

'Relevance' was also emphasised this week. This includes having releavant keywords, a relevant website or landing page and a relevant product. There are plenty of resources attached to this weeks training including information on how to sign up for an Adwords account, researching markets and industries and 'spying' on the competition.

With the information we have learned from the Wealthy Affiliate site we have started to create Adwords campaigns. We have done this before but we never really knew what we were doing and weren't very successful so we pretty much gave up. We have learned a tremendous amount about Adwords and the couple of campaigns we have created are just starting to gain momentum. We have learnt about split testing the ads so that is making a big difference.

We have also created a few Squidoo lenses. The one we are concentrating on relates to Making Money Online and it is doing quite well at the moment. The goal is to get it into the top 100 Squidoo lenses and at the moment it is at #766. After only 4 weeks I think this is pretty good and we wouldn't have been able to accomplish this without the information we found in Wealthy Affiliate.

More to come in Week 4....

Wealthy Affiliate University Review - Week 2

Week 2 of the Wealthy Affiliate University has come and gone and I am still feeling quite impressed with it all.

The learning outcomes for the week included:

  • Learn the inner workings of Internet marketing & Affiliate marketing
  • What are Affiliate Networks, and how can you leverage them?
  • The different "types" of Internet marketing
  • Choosing your direction
  • How to become an expert, not a generalist
  • Choosing an industry and product to sell online
  • Begin understanding consumers
  • Setting up a Pay-Per-Click advertising account
  • Squidoo.com

This included a variety to tutorials on different aspects both written and video and more detailed information on article marketing, PPC, using Clickbank,  using Squidoo and how to choose an industry to promote.

There were also a number of tasks to complete by the end of the week including:

  • Claim your free $50 Yahoo Search Marketing advertising credit & setup a YSM account
  • Setup a Google Adwords account
  • Join Squidoo.com (or another article engine)
  • Research potential markets & article writing ideas
  • Write your first article
  • Familiarize yourself with your Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing accounts

I am finding the forum is extremely valuable and have spent a lot of time in there seeing what others have done and reading any tips and hints anyone might be willing to impart.

I have also set up a landing page using one of the free templates available on the site and reviewed three different (but related) products. I then set up an Adwords account using the tutorials on the Wealthy Affiliate site. The keywords I chose were extremely competitive so probably not a good choice for one of my first Adword campaigns but I am going to spend some time finding less competitive keywords and see how it goes.

In all, I am finding the Wealthy Affiliate website to be a wealth of information and am looking forward to seeing what comes in Week 3.

Wealthy Affiliate University Review - Week 1

We've just joined the Wealthy Affiliate University after seeing it recommended in a number of places on the Internet. Having just joined we thought it might be worthwhile adding a few blog posts over the coming weeks detailing a little about how it all works and our honest opinion of the system.

So we started up two days ago at a cost of $39 for the month. If we paid for a year in advance we could have received a discount so the monthly cost would have only been $29. But I am the conservative type and like to see what I am getting before I pay for a year and at $39 for a month, it is not a lot to dish out.

Okay, so I pay my $39 through Paypal and am immediately sent my login details so away I go. I am pretty excited about it all from what I've read so I have high expectations and my first impressions upon logging in are very good. It is a very professional looking site and it looks like a bit of money has been put into the design.

The Dashboard page which I see first up contains a menu at the top which links to the following options which I will explain in more detail over the coming weeks -  Forum, Site Rubix, Hosting, Rapid Writer, Spaces, Jobs, My-Linker, Keyword Tool and Affiliates. The menu on the right hand side links to the Dashboard, Learning Centre, My Wealthy Affiliate, 8 Week Action Plan, Research Center, Marketing Materials, Website Center, Affiliate Program, About Kyle and Carson and Help.

Wow, I am already overwhelmed and I have only seen the first page!!

In the main content page of the Dashboard are links to useful info like Email Marketing, Squidoo Optimization,  Google Adword Tweaks...just to name a few. There are also photos of other members who have just joined the Wealthy Affiliate University community.

Further down the Dashboard page are boxes of information and I realise that I can customize where the boxes sit on the screen by dragging them around the screen - a bit like Facebook. The boxes contain the following information:

  • Forum Activity
  • Wealthy Affiliate Program Stats
  • Hot Clickbank Products
  • Wealthy Affiliate Space Activity
  • Lates WAPedia Definititons
  • WA Jobs Activity
  • Hot Trends

Again I will go into more detail as to what each of these does over the coming weeks.

Also on the page is a large PANIC button. Of course, I have to click this to see what happens and I am taken to a page which starts with the words "Take a deep breath.  You have hit the panic button for a reason, and we are going to help you calm down…". It then details all the reasons why you might be panicking and ways to help you through it. This is great stuff, particularly for someone new

Affiliate Marketing Segments - Opportunities vs Risks

Affiliate Marketing has taken off by leaps and bounds over the past several years, and one of the most profitable segments in this ocean of opportunity is web hosting affiliate programs.  By just placing some banner ads on your website(s) you can share in the multi-million dollar industry represented by these hosting providers.

Of course, it’s not quite as easy as it sounds.  In order to profit through an affiliate marketing business, you first need to have a robust website to which you can draw substantial traffic.  You have to have content that will appeal to people.  It must be optimized so that the major search engines recognize it and place your site at the top of their lists on the basis of a variety of applicable keywords.

Six Figure Yearly System Review

I am always on the look out for quality information on how to make money at home and just recently found a system that has had some good reviews around the internet. But before we go ahead and promote it we are going to give it a try and see if it does exactly what it says it will do.

Developed by Michelle Campbell, it is promoted as a secret system that can earn you $1000 to $3500 per day. I think I can guess what it is about but we will give it a go and let you know if it works.
