Secrets of a Millionaire Mind – Book Giveaway

Sometime back we happened upon a book by T.Harv Eker called “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind’. He was actually giving away a free downloadable copy of the book as an incentive to attend his conference in Sydney. The book is basically about how your thoughts can affect the amount of money or abundance you receive in your life, and in my personal opinion,  it is an excellent read.

I know there are a lot of skeptics who debunk the idea that we create our own world by our thoughts, but I was interested enough in what Harv Eker wrote to  attend the Millionaire Mind Intensive in Sydney earlier this month. This was one of those free seminars where they teach you a heap of stuff but they also promote the hell out of their products….so it’s almost like attending a 3 day infomercial. But if you can put the promotional stuff aside, the stuff he teaches is really worth taking in and the book is excellent.

Apart from wanting to hear just what Harv Eker had to say, we were really interested in finding out more about his 7 jars money system. Financial freedom is so important and when you start receiving large amounts of money it is very easy to just blow it, and this is something we don’t want to do.

I guess I need to take a step back, before discussing the seminar more fully. Before our business really took off we were becoming a bit, how shall I say it, hmm, despondent. We were working long hours and putting everything we had into trying to make our business a success but not much was really happening…we were basically struggling with the online business. Now Paula has been a long time advocate of self improvement and the power of positive thinking. I on the other hand have been a long time skeptic about this “stuff” as I called it. Well one day something she said just clicked with me, can’t remember what it was but it was a quote from Tony Robbins.

So I thought well it can’t hurt to listen to what he has to say. And as I played Tony’s lessons on my ipod when I went walking, it all began to make more and more sense

I could turn my life around and only I was responsible for my happiness and my feelings and by taking some positive action I could make all the difference to my world. So we started to factor some time each day before we started our work to listen to the audio versions of Tony Robbins and then The SGR Program (Science of Getting Rich), The Four Agreements, The Power of Now and Secrets of the Millionaire Mind along with a number of other self improvement books.

Now I don’t know if it was coincidence or not but the more we listened to these people the more opportunities began to come our way.  Our income improved quite significantly and we became more positive in our actions.

Thoughts  –> Emotions –> Actions = Results.

Anyway back to the T. Harv Eker ‘Millionaire Mind Intensive’.

This proved to be 3 days of full on interaction. It was definitely a positive experience and it was well worth attending. But as we have already mentioned, there are certain times during the conference where a lot of promotion for further courses and a lot of product selling of books and resources goes on.  And although some may find this hard sell off-putting, we find that if you are resolved to not getting swept along with the hype, you can enjoy the things that are beneficial to you and ignore the rest. It wasn’t like they chased us around to get us to buy their products and we could leave at anytime when they started into the hype.

It was amazing to actually to watch them in action and see how easily people could be swept up in it as they literally raced down to the back tables  to sign-up to courses which were in the thousands of dollars. These people really know how to promote. The only thing we ended up buying was a motivational meditation cd set which is something we knew we would use.

I was also amazed at how people can be ‘encouraged’ to pour their heart out, at times to perfect strangers. Not my thing, regardless of how much I am told that letting it all go will help me on my way to becoming a millionaire. I think it is more about having a positive approach, an action plan and a financial strategy in place and just being a little relaxed about it all.

I do recommend that you read “The Secrets of a Millionaire Mind”  or attend the Millionaire Mind Intensive, just leave your checkbook at home so that you don’t rush into signing up for something you may not need. Go home and think about it first, don’t get swept up in the hype of ‘only this price at this conference’.

So, on a more positive note, the book itself is well worth reading if you want to change your thoughts about money. Eker uses lots of comparisons between the rich and the poor. For example:

  • Rich people associate with positive people, poor people associate with negative people.
  • Rich people are excellent receivers, poor people are poor receivers.
  • Rich people believe ‘I create my life’. Poor people believe, ‘Life happens to me’.
  • Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.
  • Rich people focus on opportunities, poor people focus on obstacles.

Eker suggested that giving is most important, not only for the receiver but also for the giver. So we  decided to put into practice some of what we learnt  and we started by each taking $20 worth of $5 notes with us on our daily walk (while we were in Sydney) and giving it out to various homeless people on the street. The idea is to carry the money in your pocket, as you don’t want to be pulling out your purse on the street all the time, and to give it out without judgment. It helps with training your mind to not judge how a person may have arrived at their situation, and not to think about how they will spend the money, or whether or not they show gratitude, but just to give unconditionally.

In a nutshell the basic premise of the Secrets of a Millionaire Mind is that you set yourself up with a ‘money blueprint’ which sticks with you for as long as you hold onto it. So if you constantly believe that you can never be rich, that you can’t make ends meet and that you never have any money then that’s what will be the result in your life. Eker’s thinking is that if you believe money isn’t that important then you are most likely broke.

Money is important in my opinion – without it we can’t exist in the society we live in. We need it to survive so it’s incredibly important. And why would you only want a small amount to just get by? Who created that thinking for us? We should have enough money to have the freedom that we all deserve as well as to help others. Wouldn’t you love to help a friend who is in a financial crisis, wouldn’t you love to help a child who desperately needs an operation, wouldn’t you love to fund a school in an underdeveloped country? Only money can do this but for some reason many of us feel that we only deserve just enough to cover our expenses and maybe have a little fun if we can afford to. How limiting is that?

Then there are others that say that money can’t buy you happiness. I agree with that but then again being poor ain’t going to make you happy either. At least if you have plenty of money, you don’t have any worries about paying your bills and feeding your family – those problems disappear. I love this quote which pretty much sums it up:

“Money can’t buy happiness But I’d rather cry in my Ferrari”

Why You Shouldn’t Give Up

We know from the emails we receive that so many people are struggling to make a decent living online.  It can be quite depressing at times when you seem to put in so much effort for little return, and often your family and friends are not supportive.

But Affiliate Marketing does work, you just need to get the process right. We tried all sorts of things before we finally found what worked for us and the steps that we talk about in our Amazonian Profit Plan certainly made the world of difference to our income and lifestyle. The main thing is to find what suits you and stick to it. Money isn’t going to start coming in at the start, be prepared for this, in fact it generally takes a few months before you start to see any real results. But if you stick at it you will get there.

So why do I love the affiliate marketing business?   Well  it allows me to live  a rich and fulfilling  life full of extraordinary moments.  I just want to share some of the highlights with you, maybe it will help to keep you focused when you know that I am not some young tech savvy person, in fact I am a grandmother and a great grandmother (I started young) so if I can do this, so can you.

In the last three weeks alone, we have had the opportunity to drive 4 different model Ferraris through a company called Prancing Horse, attend the T. Harv Eker ‘Millionaire Mind” conference and then went on to the Tony Robins/Richard Branson Ultimate Success Summit in Sydney.

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to own a Ferrari, so having the opportunity to drive 4 different models was an amazing experience.

We left Sydney on the Friday morning and drove to Kiama for lunch at the Seabreeze Restaurant and then further on down the NSW coast to Gerringong  where we stayed overnight at the Bellachara Boutique Hotel. The package included, accommodation,  all meals and a fantastic massage when we arrived at the hotel.

Then we drove back to Sydney the next day. There were 8 people all told, and each car had two people in each, so we stopped to do a driver exchange and later on at the next stop we exchanged cars. This gave everyone the opportunity to drive each of the cars. A totally awesome weekend. And just don’t tell anyone I told you but Paula got a speeding ticket driving one of the Ferraris – a whopping $672 (approx $630US) for doing 40kms over the speed limit! She says it was worth it!

A week later we were back in Sydney to attend the 3 day Millionaire Mind Intensive event and stayed on in Sydney to see Tony Robbins and Richard Branson, for a taste of more motivational inspiration.

So for the past 3 weeks we have stayed in Sydney at 4 & 5 star hotels, eaten at very nice restaurants and attended educational and inspirational events;  things we could not have done without our online business and more specifically when we finally worked out what we needed to do to get our websites to start returning serious money.

It has allowed us to travel wherever and whenever we like because this business can be done on your laptop. We flit back and forward to the US and next year we are off to Europe again, plus we get to travel around Australia at will.

We didn’t always know what we were doing and we made every mistake in the book along the way.  But we found the key to success is to have a plan, focus on it and open your mind to the endless possibilities that are available.

We did it and so can you!!

What Plugins Do We Use on Our WordPress Blogs?

We’ve used a lot of plugins over the years but there are a handful of them that are our favorites and whenever we create a new blog, these are the plugins we automatically upload.

1. TinyMCE Advanced This one we can’t do without. The TinyMCE Advanced plugin does a multitude of things but what we use it for mainly is the ability to add extra formatting options to our posts, in particular font size and font family selections. We also use it to easily add nofollow to our affiliate links. A definite must.

2. MaxBlog Ninja Affiliate – My absolute favorite plugin of all time. I love this one, however there is a catch – it’s not free. But it has paid for itself over and over. The Ninja Affiliate plugin allows you to create affiliate links quickly and easily.

So let’s say your site is about fishing rods, and over the years you’ve created hundreds of blog posts all about a particular brand of fishing rod. Then one day you decided that it would be a good idea to add affiliate links to all of those posts. This would probably take you many hours of work. But, with the Maxblog Ninja Affiliate plugin you can easily do it in about 5 minutes. You simply enter the affiliate link once in the backend along with the keywords that you want to add an affiliate link to, and this plugin does the rest. Wherever it sees those keywords on your posts, it adds an affiliate link behind them. It also automatically adds affiliate links to any new posts you add. One other benefit of this plugin is that it can cloak your affiliate links so they look like regular links on your site.

3. All in One SEO Pack – we have used this plugin for years on our blogs. It basically helps with optimizing your posts and pages for the search engines. We have always just used the default settings but I am sure if you studied this plugin you could get a lot more out of it.

4. OIO Publisher – this is another paid plugin but if you want to advertise on your blog then this is a must have. It makes the process so easy – all you need to do once this plugin is set up, is approve the ads. It’s so simple and a huge time saver.

5. WordPress Database Backup – This is another must have. If for some unforeseen reason, you lose your site then having a backup of your WordPress database will make getting your website back a whole lot easier. This plugin will email you a regular backup of your database which you can store on your computer.

6. Adsense Target – On our product review sites, we will often add Adsense adds to our articles. These are extra informational type articles that we add to boost our blog/website content.Note: we do not add Adsense to the product reviews themselves, this would defeat the purpose of our plan, we just put Adsense on the articles. We use this plugin to increase the quality of the Adsense ads displayed. It helps to better match the Google ads to the content on your blog and hence result in a higher click through rate.

7. Internal Link Building – This is another favorite. This plugin automatically creates internal links on your blog. In other words, links from one page on your site to another page on your site. This can really help to boost your site. This plugin is particularly good if you have a huge site and haven’t been particularly diligent in linking between posts. Update: The developer tells me that it can also be used for affiliate links and you can no follow them which is excellent.
