The pagerank on this blog hasn't really moved at all so that won't appeal to advertisers either. I think once that changes we may get more interest. As it is, even if the pagerank does go up, it won't make any difference to the ads as they are all nofollow anyway...but most peoples perceptions are that pagerank means a good quality blog. As we know, that is not necessarily the case.

I haven't thought much about looking for advertisers on my blog just yet. I lost my page rank, and even though I don't overly care about it, advertisers do. My Alexa rank is pretty strong, but I think I need to build up my readership a bit more before I go that route.

And I've kept Adsense, although I make almost no money from my blog from it. I may be being stubborn, but for now, it's okay.

It's always good to try things out for a time to see if they work for you. I may try Adsense out again sometime down the line but for the moment I am happy without it.

lol ... Love the decisiveness. I'm going to leave them up for a few months to see how they work. I don't think they are too obnoxious where I have placed them on my site.

Well it didn't take me long to think about it. Only a couple of hours after writing the comment above, I have decided to remove Adsense from this blog.

I was never really happy with it and since it isn't really converting I think it is better to remove it...I feel better now!

I have the same feeling about Google Adsense. If someone comes to this blog and trusts me they may get the impression that I am endorsing what appears in those ads and of course I am not.

I am still up in the air about whether to remove them from this blog. We don't earn that much from them anyway since most visitors to this site are so ad aware that they tend to ignore them. On our niche product sites however, our readers are less ad savvy and tend to click them more readily. The ads are also less spammy for our product sites and more trust worthy.

Paula,

It's funny how our feelings about advertisements change over time. Take television ads for example.

We absolutely love our DVR because we record all of our television programs and fast forward through the commercials.

I think most people feel this way; however, when it comes to the Superbowl or Oscar night, people can't wait to see the commercials.

I put ads on my blog for companies or products that I think can really help my readers. I would be recommending these companies even if I wasn't being compensated to refer traffic to them (don't tell them that though).

I recently added Google's Adsense to my blog, but I don't feel quite as good about it since I can't control the ads that appear. There is some tweaking that I can do with it that I need to learn more about.

I hope that our readers understand that we need to make a living and advertising is one way that we do it. The other, as you are about to find out in Yaro's course, is to create a membership site that users pay to use.

I wish you all the best in his course, and in your advertising.

Brad

Hey Paula, I've only just completed my version of this topic, and while it's nowhere near as comprehensive as yours, I do believe I may have added a couple of important points.

Yours is so good I ever gave it a Tweet.

I'm with you Vivian. I would rather not have the ads, and we actually resisted adding them for quite some time, but we all need to make a living.
