Yes, I had a bit of a chuckle when I saw you were following me in Twitter. I've followed you back and have put you in my favorites in Twitter to remind me to keep you updated. I am as interested as you are in the results.

Totally agree Dirk. The problem with Twitter is that when it comes down to it, the people on it are really only following people because they want that person to follow them back, with the few exceptions of course for family, friends, celebrities etc.

Hey, I'll be honest and say I'm doing the exact same thing...unless I'm Ellen DeGeneres or Oprah, I am unlikely to get thousands of people who follow simply because they like what I have to say. So I have to go look for people to follow preferably who are interested in my topic.

So yes I am yet to see the real value but as I say, I am going to reserve judgement until I reach that 10,000 mark...and I want to do that the right way...if there is a right way.

Hey Paula, I read your post......

I have 3400 followers. Does this really mean anything? twitter(dot)com/dirkpoulsen

Sad thing is I hate twitter, can't remember my last tweet. Hint: I had way more followers before today.

I bet I could get 10,000 followers in the next 3o days.... of course I would use less meaningful tactics to do that.

The point I am trying to make is that you don't have to have people following you to make money. This is so far from what making money online is really about.

I understand wanting to rank for a keyword and maybe this is where you are going with this but just for the sake of transparency here are my suggestions.

Write for what you want to rank for, build your back links.

This is what will bring the targeted people searching for what they want.

Enough said?

Cheers,

Dirk

LOL - well it's good to see that my spammy hover ad works....you did leave a comment!

As for Twitter, you sound like I did not long ago. Read this to see the mood I was in at the time - http://www.affiliateblogonline.com/2009/08/29/im-no-longer-in-a-twitter-over-twitter/

BUT, I have decided to reserve my judgement until I reach 10,000 followers so I am sticking with it...I am around the 3000 mark as I write this. If I don't see any value in it by then I will be tossing it in.

My time on Twitter is limited and until I see the real value in it, it will continue to be limited.

Well,

You spammed me with your hovering ad asking for a comment.........

So here it is..........

Just so you know you can thank Caroline(I like her) for bringing me here.........

Social traffic is exactly what it is. Yes it can be converted to income but is less likely (big time) than search traffic.

Twitter is a waste of time for any marketer, and I am simply tired of being spammed from it.

Don't waste your money on Tweetie 2 App, unless your a hopeless social junkie that never has any desire to make money online!

Cheers!
