Thanks Paula
The site is new (only a month old) but it started earning money and getting good google page rankings almost immediately, which is why I was concerned.
I will continue building back links and be patient.
I appreciate your reply, and have already changed the links to 'no follow' this afternoon.
Thanks
Richard

Also what you are experiencing now could be because your site is new. Just about all new sites go through this but eventually the rankings do return so just keep working on backlinking.

Somewhere along the way we simply forgot about it all and just moved on to other things and it all sorted itself out in the end. We did change the links to nofollow so maybe that did the trick.

Hi Paula and Wanda
I would love an update on this. Did changing the Amazon links to 'no follow' make a difference?
I have just had my first experience with this same problem. I am new to affiliate marketing. Not making much money yet, and my only website that is making any real income has sudeenly dropped from consistant traffic of 200+ visitors a day to zero (for four days in a row). When I check Google, none of the keywords that were ranking on page 1 are ranking any more. In fact of the 50+ keywords that I had with reasonable ranking, most cannot be found any more.

Also, I found this blog yesterday and am reading through all your posts. You have some great information.
Thanks
Richard

It wasn't this blog that lost traffic. It was actually one of our product niche blogs so it had nothing to do with making money online. So that can't be the reason.

It sounds strange. What could be the reason behind it. Maybe google does not like blogs which tell people how 2 make money on the net. But I read a story that google paid bloggers money in Japan to write sponsored posts :)

I'm not sure it is Soma as wouldn't my main site pages also do the same thing? It only appears to happen with the blog which is attached to the main site. The home page and other website pages still rank the same as they have always done. The blog on the other hand loses its traffic at least once a month for about a week and it has done so now for the past four months.

The only problem is that our blog posts disappear for more than just a day. It usually lasts anywhere between 5 to 10 days. If Google is going to take that long to do their 'thing' every month then they have a problem.
