Top 8 Best Clickbank Products to Promote

Best Clickbank ProductsHere is a list of the top 8 best Clickbank products based on gravity, sale amount, refunds and just our general experience with conversion rates.

1. Wealthy Affiliate University Membership

Actually this one isn’t in Clickbank but I had to put it in because I know for a fact that it converts extremely well. We are averaging one sale for every 40 people we send to the Wealthy Affiliate website.  Some of you may say that you can get better than that BUT the big advantage of Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is that as long as the person remains a member we continue to get a recurring monthly commission. And so far, 75% of the people we have referred have remained members.

For each sign up you either receive $20 per month if they are paying monthly or $175 if they pay for a year.

The drawback is that you have to be a member of Wealthy Affiliate in order to become an affiliate but it worked out well for us because within the first month of joining WA we referred two people so the commission we receive from referring them covers our monthly fee. Of course we have referred quite a few more since then but it is nice to know that our monthly membership is now paid for.

WA includes extensive stats so you can see where your sales are coming from. They also provide keyword lists that you can use in your promotion and tutorials on using Google Adwords, article marketing, Squidoo and other bum marketing techniques.

Definitely recommended.

4. Beating Adwords

We purchased Beating Adwords as we were in desperate need of help after experiencing the Google Adwords slap when our cost per click leaped to $10 and more for some keywords. This ebook solved that problem for us and helped to increase our page quality score and reduce our bid prices dramatically.

Beating Adwords has a very low refund rate and pays a nice commission at just over $30. It is well written and covers everything anyone will need to improve their Google Adwords campaigns as well as going into detail about writing ads and creating landing pages.

5. Official Secret Restaurant Recipes

This is a great seller and converts really well. This is another ebook with a very low refund rate so you can be assured that buyers are happy with the product.

The landing page is well presented and you can’t help but want to buy this after seeing how many secret recipes you get. The price of the ebok at $29.97 is reasonable so sales are more likely. You get just over $20 per sale so it is well worth promoting. We’ve done well with this one.

8. World of Warcraft Secrets

World of Warcraft is huge and good money can be made from this niche. It helps if you know a little about this online game before promoting but it isn’t necessary.

What is Affiliate Summit?

Affiliate Summit is a bi-annual conference that brings together affiliate publishers, affiliate networks and merchants in order to network, learn and promote their affiliate business.

When and where are the Affiliate Summits held?

The Affiliate Summits are held twice a year alternating between the west coast and east coast of the US. The west Affiliate Summits are generally held in Las Vegas while the eastern Summits are generally held in Miami, Florida. In the past some Affiliate Summits have been held on cruise ships!

The east coast Affiliate Summits are usually held in January whilst the west coast Summits are held around July.

What will I see at an Affiliate Summit?

The Affiliate Summit is held in an exhibition hall and there are over 300 merchants promoting their products and services.

There are two types of pass, one allows you entrance to the hall where you can meet with the affiliate merchants and the other allows you to attend the hall plus all the training sessions which involve industry notables presenting information and useful advice to assist you in your affiliate business.

Why should I attend an Affiliate Summit?

The Affiliate Summit conferences are a chance to network, develop new opportunities and to cut deals. It is also an opportunity to learn from other notable industry leaders and develop partnerships that will help promote your business.

How much does the Affiliate Summit cost to attend?

There are currently three different passes – Platinum at $1749, Gold at $749 and Silver at $449. However, if you purchase in advance you can receive substantial discounts with the Platinum pass as low as $949, the Gold at $349 and the Silver at $149. You can receive an even bigger discount on the Platinum pass if you can get together a group of 5 or more people.

Which pass should I purchase?

If you want the lot then purchase the Platinum but our recommendation is to go with the Gold pass. It gives you all of the important stuff. The last time we went we chose the Silver pass and this was still adequate enough although we did miss some of the network events and wished we had gone for the Gold (or what was the equivalent of the gold pass at the time).

The exhibition hall pass does not include the sessions. However, if you are deciding between the full passes and the exhibition hall only pass, then we suggest that you take a look at the agenda and work out which sessions you would be likely to attend. If you find that there are a substantial number of sessions you are interested in then a full pass is a definite must.

Affiliate Summits we have attended

We have been to two Affiliate Summits so far. The first wasn’t as successful as the second as we didn’t know anyone and we found it difficult to just get in there and network. By the second we were old hands and had a great time.

It is definitely a social occasion with lots of night time events but these are not a must do if that isn’t your thing.

We definitely recommend this event if you are serious about your affiliate business.

How do I register for the next Affiliate Summit?

Legit Online Jobs ReviewSome time back I found a blog talking about a website called Legit Online Jobs. Their review was honest (or at least it sounded that way) and they spoke highly of Legit Online Jobs. Still I am not one to purchase something without reading a few different reviews. So I did my best to find reviews from people who looked like they actually used the product and after finding only positive comments and reviews I decided to give Legit Online Jobs a go.

Their home page didn’t reveal too much apart from the fact that they are heavily into making money from posting classified ads but I had heard that they offer much more than just the classified ad technique so I signed up and paid the $69.95 for VIP access (only $49.95 if you take the basic package.)

This money making membership site focuses on quite a few different ways to make money online and lists them on the welcome page once logged in:

Ad Cash System- Learn how to make great money typing ads for companies.
Real Home Jobs – Real no-fee jobs. Get paid by the hour. Includes data entry jobs.
Paid Surveys – Give your opinion on various products and get paid for it.
Paid Shopping – Get paid to shop in stores or eat out at restaurants.
Paid Driving – Get paid to drive your own car or receive a brand new free car.
Paid Email/Surf – Get paid to read email and visit websites.
Paid Offers – Get paid to complete free offers from various companies.
Paid TV – Get paid to watch TV for companies.
Paid Photos – Make money taking pictures.
Paid Blogging – Make money with your own blog.
Wholesale/Ebay – Access the best wholesale sources and make money reselling.
Advanced Money – Money making secrets for advanced users.
Gov. Auctions – Access government auctions all across the US.
Gov. Grants – Find the best sources for all types of grants in the US.

Each of these money making techniques is backed up with an introduction on what it all means, step-by-step tutorials and eBooks to help you along. The guides are easy to follow and they provide tips and techniques to making them work effectively.

In additon they also provide extensive lists of resources or websites that are relevant to each money making technique. For instance, for the eBay section they include a huge database of websites where you can source products (mostly dropshippers) and for the Paid Surveys section it includes a database filled with companies you can sign up with to start completing surveys.

Although the home page of Legit Online Jobs pushes the Ad Cash System (which by the way I have tried but more on that below) the main benefit for many is the Real Home Jobs section. This is where you can find hundreds of legitimiate, paid by the hour, work at home jobs. It includes data entry, transcription services, editing, writing, translating, assistant type jobs, clerical, research, sales and marketing and much more. There are even jobs that involve you answering customer phone calls in your own home for big companies.

Quite a few of the members of this site take on a few jobs at a time in order to make a full-time wage.

Legit Online Jobs emphasises that none of the services provided on their site requires a further fee to sign up so after the initial payment everything is free.

As well as everything mentioned above there is also a bonus section with over 50 ebooks and video coaching on a variety of subjects including:

  • The Expert Guide to Affiliate Marketing
  • Squidoo Basics
  • One Step to eBay Riches
  • Make Money Without Leaving Your Home
  • How to Get Quick Cash in an Emergency
  • Adsense Secrets

The Ad Cash System is promoted heavily on the home page of Legit Online Jobs. We have tried it and it definitely does work. It requires time and effort but it is by no means difficult to do – in fact it is dead easy once you know how. The goal is to place as many ads as you can on free classified ad sites that link to a product that you can make a commission from. Legit Online Jobs recommends putting up 30 ads a day. We put up about 2 a day over a 2 month period and made just over $200. Not bad for about 15 minutes of work a day.

The whole point of Legit Online Jobs is that they do the dirty work for you and find only the legitimate money making sites. This is especially important for those new to internet marketing or working online as they can be easily scammed.

Overall we found this to be a great resource for anyone wanting to make money online. The variety of methods means that there is something for everyone and you can pick and choose the money making method that suits you. We definitely recommend it.

Top 10 Ways to Increase Your Google Adsense Income

Just recently we went through all of our affiliate websites to see if there was any way we could improve the income we were making from them. A good majority of these websites haven’t been touched in over a year and the only income they were really generating was from Google Adsense ads.

From our analysis we realised that with just a few changes we could increase the income from these sites and we went ahead and did just that.

This got me thinking that it might be timely to write a blog post about it since I know one of them most common questions I see from people with predominantly Google Adsense type sites is how to increase the number of clicks.

I have put together a list of methods below but it is important that when trying these that you make one change and then test it for a few weeks to see the difference in income rather than go all out and make multiple changes in one go.

1. Create URL Channels

The Google Adsense program provides a systems of Channels to help you to keep track of exactly where clicks are coming from. These channels can be created on a per ad basis or a per url basis as follows:

  • Custom Channels – allows you to track the performance of specific ad units on your website.
  • URL Channels – allows you to track the performance of specific pages on your website.

What we have done in the past is create one Custom Channel per website. In this way we have been able to get the total number of Google Adsense clicks per website. But what if we want to know how many clicks are generated per page on our website? This is where URL Channels come in to play.

The benefit of creating URL channels is that you can see exactly what pages the clicks are coming from and also which web pages are getting a lot of higher value clicks.

For instance, say we have two pages on our website and we have created a URL channel for each page in Google Adsense. After a week has passed we go in and check the channel stats in our Adsense account and we can see that page 1 gets 100 clicks for a total of $19.00 while page 2 gets 100 clicks for a total of $95.00.

If we do the calculations here we can see that page 1 is paying out an average of 19c per click whereas page 2 is paying an average of 95c per click.

So what does this mean to us? Well it means that we can put more of our effort into getting backlinks and increasing traffic to page 2 since that is paying more on average per click.

2. Change the position of the ad

The position of a Google ad can make a significant difference to the number of clicks received. Check out some of the big Adsense sites to see where they position their ads – (see askthebuilder.com and about.com). Many of these sites get help from Google in terms of ad placement.

Move your ads around and test using url channels to see if a certain spots on your webpages generate more clicks than others.

Also if you have regular visitors to your site then it is most likely they have become immune to your ads so try moving them around every now and then.

3. Change the link text color

There are two schools of thought on this. One is that you should choose the same color link text as you have on the rest of your website so that it blends in and looks like any normal link on your site. The other is that you should use the default ‘click me blue’ color that most everyone knows is a link.

Again this all comes down to testing. Change the color and try it out for a few weeks. Change it again for the same period and compare the two.

4. Use relevant keywords on the page and in meta tags

Google displays ads based on what is written on your page and the keywords in your title tags and metatags. By writing content with relevant keywords you will find that your Google ads are more targeted to the content. This means that when someone visits that page they will be more likely to click on that ad as it is relevant to their search.

5. Create more content

The more content you create the more pages you will have on your site and the more Google ads you will have to display.

6. Place more than one ad on the page

Don’t just stick to one Google ad on a page. You can have up to 3 ads which you can place in strategic locations. Just try not to make it look too much like a page full of ads. This turns people off real fast.

7. Change the size of the ad

The size of a Google ad can make a big difference in the number of clicks. That’s not to say that you should plaster a big ad across the entire page but going up a size may see an increase in the click through rate.

8. Blend your ad in with your content

Ensure your ad blends in nicely with the rest of the content on your site. If you are using a 250×250 block for instance, then try to right or left align it with the content.

9. Increase your traffic

Well this one is kind of obvious. Increase your traffic and you will be more likely to get more people clicking on your Adsense ads.

10. Testing, testing, testing

Most of the above options require you to do a bit of testing. This is so important. Make small changes and keep track of the number of clicks and keep comparing.

How to Improve Your Affiliate Income

If you have a website or blog that is getting traffic but it is not making you much money then it is probably time to take an unbiased look at it to see where you might be going wrong. Oftentimes a few simple changes can make the difference between making a few pennies and raking in some big dollars.

Here are few things you should consider:

1. Does your affiliate website have the ability to promote a product?

This may seem like an obvious question but it is often missed in the rush to set up a website. If there are only one or two products that you can promote on your website then it might be a little harder to make money as you don’t offer a diverse range of products to meet your visitors needs or wants. Also if you rely on only one product and that product is no longer available or you can’t find a merchant who has an affiliate program then you are leaving yourself vunerable if you only rely on the one website to make you money.

2. Are you choosing the right products?

Merchants will offer anywhere between 1% to 30% and even more as a commission for a sale. In my opinion 1% is really not much of an incentive to sell a product. Imagine making $1 per sale on a $100 product. You would need to sell at least 100 per day to make it worthwhile and that is a huge undertaking to begin with. Stick with no less than 7% and preferably around 10% or more.

Also think about the price of the products you promote. If each of the products you promote are sold for $2 and your commission is 10% then you will only make .20c per sale. It’s really not worth the effort. Try to stick with products that are over $100 each and more if possible. Imagine selling a $2000 product a day and receiving 10% commission – that’s $200 in your pocket. You could effectively create a full time wage from just one sale a day. So think about what products you are offering and whether it is worthwhile you promoting them.

3. Is your website appealing or is it outdated and full of spammy ads?

A professional looking website can make the difference between people staying and people clicking away. We’re not talking getting a professional designer in and spending thousands on a template – in fact the simplest templates are often the best. What we mean is following a few standard rules:

  • Stick to the same font throughout. – Verdana, Tahoma or Arial are good standards. And don’t make the font too small.
  • Get a logo or header made specifically for your site. This can really make a site look professional. Use RentaCoder or Elance for this or for only $25 you can get a logo done up by GotLogos.com.
  • When using Google ads keep them left or right justified. I have often seen websites where a 250×250 Google ad sits right at the top of the article and you have to scroll down before you even get to the content. I click away as soon as I see this. It is fine to keep the Google Ads at the top, in fact we recommend it, but keep them left or right justified so that the article or content text runs along side the ads and not below it.
  • Avoid placing ads all over your site. And definitely avoid ads that flash and pop-up. This is one quick way to get rid of visitors real fast. One of the best rules is to find big name sites like Yahoo and see where they place their ads. Remember that they have huge budgets and pay big dollars for expert help in this area.
  • Don’t use too many different colors particularly with your fonts – stick to a few colors that blend well together.

4. Do you regularly add new and unique content to your website or blog?

Google loves fresh, new and unique content and your visitors are the same. If you have a blog, add at least 3 new blog posts a week – more would be better. If you have a website then add 3 article pages. It is better to add 3 good quality posts a week that provide value to the reader than 7 poorly written posts. You want visitors that leave comments and return to check out what you have to say. If you can’t manage 3 a week then set your goal at one a week. If you don’t have the time or you aren’t that great at writing an article, then get someone to write it for you using elance.com. It will cost you but it will also free up your time for other things.

5. Have you structured your website correctly?

Google loves links so ensure that they can easily spider all of the pages on your site. Try not to have too many levels of navigation. For example, if your site is about dogs and you sell dog beds you would be better off structuring it as follows – Dogs –> Dog Beds so that dog beds is linked to from the home page rather than Dogs –> Accessories —> Dog Beds. You are already two levels down so it is harder for Google to find and rank the pages.

6. Is your traffic targeted?

You could get thousands of visitors a day but if they are not targeted you will not make any money or at least not that much. This is why Stumbleupon visitors don’t really convert well. Although this site can bring in a lot of traffic these stumblers are really just randomly finding your site and will quickly click onto the next site if you don’t have anything that interests them.

7. Are you spreading yourself too thin?

If you have more than one website then it is time to narrow it down to only one or two and stick with them.

Focus on only one or two websites and we can guarantee that you will be more likely to suceed. You can devote more time, more articles and more money to just one or two. Don’t spread yourself too thin.

Set up a plan for yourself and make it one that you can easily stick to.

8. Testing, testing, testing

Testing is one of the most important things you can do. If you are using Google Adsense then start using URL channels to track exactly which pages on your website the clicks are coming from. If you are using Commission Junction then create SIDS in your affiliate links to track where your sales are coming from.

Google Website Optimizer is another tool that you can use to test multiple versions of the same page to see which page converts better than the other.

And lastly, enjoy what you do. If you like working on your websites then you are more likely to make them a valuable resource for your visitors.

How to Get Others to Write Articles for you

Over the years we have written hundreds of articles for our affiliate websites…actually it might be closer to thousands. It has become second nature for us to be able to put together 500 words and more on a topic even if we know nothing about it initially. Having said that however, it still takes time to research and write and it is time we would rather spend elsewhere. So we have learnt to outsource a large part of our content to writers. This not only frees us up to get on with some of the more important aspects of our affiliate business but also means that we have fresh content from writers with different views and writing styles to ours.

There are a number of ways to get content for your site – some you will need to pay for and others you can get for free.

Paid Methods

Elance and RentaCoder are two places where you find hundreds of writers ready to write articles for you. An article can cost anywhere from $2 and up depending on how many words you want written. You just place a project with the topics and number of words you want written and writers in Elance or Rentacoder will place their bid for the project. The bid is the price they want to receive from you for writing the articles.

You will usually get more than one writer placing a bid. I receive anywhere from 5 to 20 different bids for article projects I post in Elance.

Don’t just choose the writer with the lowest bid as you get what you pay for. You will often get writers from non-English speaking countries and although in some cases they will do a great job, in others you will find that their English is not that great and you will have a lot of editing to do. We tend to stick with native English speaking writers and we always ensure that we have checked previous feedback and examples of similar work they have done before accepting a potential writer.

It is worth paying a bit extra for a writer with good feedback and good writing skills as it will save you time in editing and fixing up errors. Our favorite writer’s work is so good and she knows what our requirements are, so that oftentimes I don’t even have to read the article properly before uploading to a website. She isn’t the cheapest but she certainly isn’t the dearest either and I know that I don’t have to do any work once she sends the article through – it is ready to go.

You can be very specific with your article requests or just provide the keyword and let them go for it. We have a writer who only requires a keyword and can write a brilliant article around that. Others need more help so be as specific as you can.

Every now and then we will select more than one writer for the project so that we get two different versions of the same article. We can then add one article to our website and perhaps distribute the other article to another website or submit it to an article directory.

Here is an example of a project we might post in Elance:

We require 10 articles at 300+ words on the topic of dog training. We would like the articles to be informative and provide value to the reader. Articles must be provided in Microsoft Word or Notepad format and must be completely original. We will be checking each article for duplicate content.

Here are the topic titles:

1. How to train your dog to sit
2. How to make dog treats
3. How to get my dog to shake hands
4. etc, etc.

That’s pretty much it really. Now you can provide more detail if you require specific information in the article but so far we have found that most good writers can just take a topic and run with it.

Free Methods

Here are a few ways you can get free articles:

1. Grab some from an article directory – This isn’t the best method in the world as although you might find a fantastic article that you can add to your website or blog, so have a hundred other people. So what happens is that the same article is plastered on numerous websites. Google doesn’t like duplicate content so you will probably find that although that page of content may get indexed in Google it is nowhere to be seen in the rankings and you never get any traffic to it. So it is kind of a waste of time if you are trying to generate traffic but it can be worthwhile if it is an article that will be useful to your current readers.

2. Exchange articles with another web master - Find other websites with similar content to yours and email them to see if they would like to exchange articles.

3. Add a bit of text to a prominent spot on your website or blog saying that you accept guest writers. In exchange for an article you can add a link to the writers website at the end of the article.
